Authentic French Shoe Buckle Bracelet
These are a quintessential piece of French fashion history. Circa 1759, cut steel jewelry became popular due to French King Louis XV "request" that all citizens donate their jewelry and precious gems to help fund military campaigns.
These were very laborious to manufacture as each stud had to be faceted, polished and riveted into place. Some buckles had as many as 15 facets on one stud creating their enviable brilliance and sparkle. This technique ceased in 1925 making them a true treasure.
Adorned on reclaimed leather and cinched with 1920's hand dyed Parisian silk ribbon and pave button. This style dates between 1759 - 1900.
